WHERE TO USE
BondTACT 1600 may be applied to interior surfaces, such as basement walls and floors and exterior cavity walls to prevent air infiltration, vapor transmission and water penetration. Can be used to coat concrete and concrete block interior walls to protect from moisture and water infiltration where exterior application is not readily accessible. Surface must be dry at time of application. BondTACT must penetrate a dry, porous surface in order to prevent further moisture and water infiltration.
Apply coating to masonry, concrete, cement board, gypsum board, all exterior sheathing boards, such as Dens Glass and glass-mat sheathing, aluminum, steel, wood substrates, roofing components and shingles, window and door framing and sills to produce a water & vapour barrier.
Materials and components applied to Bondtac coated surfaces will adhere instantly and permanently. BondTACT 800 Diluent and Surface Lubricant will permit adjustments to attain the proper fit of components and boards. Allow a minimum of one hour drying time after application of BondTACT 1600, and then apply a sparing coat of BondTACT 800 to the surface of the BondTACT 1600, using a brush or paint roller. Slide and fit the board or component into place within five minutes of BondTACT 800 application.
BondTACT 1600 provides an excellent crack isolation barrier for shower enclosures, shower pans and tub surrounds.
This product can be used as an excellent primer for self-adhesive air & vapour barrier membranes, systems or components over porous and non-porous substrates and may also be used as a primer to enhance the adhesion of silicone and polyurethane sealants.
When dry, this product's adhesive characteristics will allow it to be used to adhere rigid polystyrene insulation to sheathing boards and other substrates. It may also be used as a waterproofing membrane for concrete, stone and for other multipurpose applications where the use of an elastic waterproofing membrane is required to minimize water penetration of surfaces subject to hairline cracks.
BondTACT 1600 may also be used to adhere laps of polyethylene sheets and housewraps to one another and to virtually any other substrate.
BondTACT 1600 may be used as a corrosion protective primer for all metal components, fasteners, sheet metal, etc. In applications where a topcoat finish is desirable, any protective coating may be used with the following exceptions: Oil-based enamels and varnishes are not suitable for use with BondTACT waterproofing products.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING! EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE! VAPOURS MAY IGNITE EXPLOSIVELY! VAPOURS HARMFUL! MAY IRRITATE EYES AND SKIN! USE ONLY IN WELL VENTILATED CONDITIONS! KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN!
Open all windows and doors to prevent buildup of vapours. Keep away from heat, sparks or open flame. Do not smoke. Extinguish all flames and pilot lights. Turn off stoves, heaters, electric motors and other sources of ignition during use and until all vapours have dissipated. Do not use in areas where static electrical sparks may be generated. Keep container tightly closed when not in use. Store in a cool, dry place.
Surfaces to be coated must be sound and clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, grease, oil or other foreign matter. Apply by brush, roller or spray. Can be applied over a wide temperature range.
Surfaces coated with BondTACT 1600 can be bonded as soon as 15 minutes and up to 96 hours later, depending on the porosity of the coated surfaces. Coated surfaces must be kept free of dust, dirt and foreign matter.
LIMITATIONS
BondTACT 1600 is not recommended for use with foam rubber and rigid polystyrene insulation. Solvent in the product will attack rigid polystyrene insulation. Use BondTACT S-1430 with polystyrene products.
